The doctors of the Federal Center performed at the 27th Congress of the World Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons, which was held from September 1 to 3 in Astana. The scientific reports at the event were presented by the following cardiovascular surgeons: deputy chief doctor for surgical help Igor Chernov, heads of cardiosurgical units Dmitry Kondratyev, Anatoly Nechepurenko and the head of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care Stanislav Ibrahimov, an intensivist.
Igor Chernov presented a report on topical issues of cardiovascular surgery and the off-pump surgery, in particular. Nowadays, Igor has the biggest experience in Russia in the field of applying this technology. The off-pump technology, or conducting operations on the heart without artificial circulation, is currently quite popular. Its advantages are related to the shorter duration of the operation, the absence of complications after the artificial circulation, the reduction of blood loss and the need for donor blood, a rapid post-operative rehabilitation. All this leads to a speedy recovery of the patient and his fast return home. At the Federal Center, such operations have been conducted for several years already. Currently, the Center ranks first in Russia in terms of the number of open heart operations without artificial circulation for patients with a coronary heart disease
Another pressing issue that Dmitri Kondratiev has highlighted is that the minimally invasive valve surgery is a reconstruction or valve replacement surgery through a small lateral access. This technology allows you to reduce operational injury and reduce blood loss during the surgery.
Anatoly Nechepurenko has mentioned an important aspect of monitoring patients with implanted devices. The function of remote monitoring, allows you to monitor the status of electrodes, batteries and heart rate when the patient is at home. This allows you to monitor more often and reduces the need for frequent visits to the clinic.
The report of Stanislav Ibrahimov was devoted to the experience of using an electric contact pressure gauge (ECPG) in surgery. The life support method (ECPG), allows maintaining a person's life for several days and even weeks. ECPG has been used in the Center since its very foundation. During this time, a sufficient number of procedures have been conducted to analyze their results and draw certain conclusions.
The experience of the Federal Center is one of the most advanced in Russia, which allows the doctors of the Center to participate in world congresses, share their techniques and new technologies, and be aware of current world trends.
